I Honestly don't know. Let me do some research. I don't see why they wouldn't take on names or characteristics of stories they have read, but let me do some looking so I can give you a more thourough answer.

A quick history lesson before the question so you can understand better.

From the age of 6-12 I was physically/sexually/mentally abused by my father, brother, and boys at my school. I have abandonment issues because my mother would leave me all the time in dangerous situations. When I was 14 she finally divorced my father and then moved in with her boyfriend 3 months later, leaving me at home a lone most of the time. I have been told by my psychologist that I have been going on and off too since I was 13 (I'm 19 now) that I have DID. I don't like to talk about i tmuch because once when I brought it up to my mom and told her she told me I was lying and yelled at me.

The reason why my mom didn't believe me is because my personalities are characters from books that have really touched my life. She told me that that isn't how it worked and called me a liar. Ever since then I have been too embarrassed to talk about it even with my psychologist.

So I'm here asking someone that might know if it really is impossible for my alters to be characters from books?

Googled coping with being a blacksheep and ran across your post. I am not a member nor have I really figured out this blog yet... but... have something to say if you don't mind.

Personally, I don't think you are alone - everyone has times in their lives that they pick apart, store revisit ... cry over to the point the pain is too great and store back.

I tend to do this more so when I am not crazy busy - when everything is running smoothly and my brain has downtime. I guess that is when it is miller time! But I never really got into drugs or drinking - I just don't have the draw to that.

And imagine me, married to an drinker. Shocked the crap out of me too. I just thought he was the life of the party - mister non serious and fun... until your married and the fun starts every wednesday and flows nightly picking up more and more speed until Sunday morning... recovery day. Twenty one years of married bliss - ha (he gave up drinking for almost 15 of those... but that all changed last year... so things will start getting interesting again... the sleepless nights wondering where the hell he is and if he is driving because he won't hand over the keys- angry at you for picking him up - so much so he fights you every step of the way - getting in the car, getting out the car - getting into bed... etc.) I think the saddest part is the children seeing him like this... this is a dad they have never seen... Granted they are older so it is sort of cool to them that dad parties... but I think it also shows them why I have begged them not to start their whole lives.

My daugher asked me recently the same question you posed - why in the heck are we here. I didn't have a really good answer for her... Just that I loved her and that great things could happen - she should give herself a chance at life by being a secure and loving person with her self first... and not let anyone take away her confidence or spirit.

Sound like you need that pep talk too. Take all those boxes off that shelf - have that one last review and analysis and than forgive yourself - forgive the thoughlessness and cruelity of others - note how you would do it differently now... and than BURN THOSE SUCKERS.

If you need to say hey I was a jerk back so and so to someone - do it... and if you need to write a note to dad and leave at grave to move past - do it. You can only change you, trying to get validation from others is a long road to no where. The best you can do is FORGIVE... you and others are allowed to make mistakes. Live your life now - and move forward. And when the past rears it's ugly head and starts repeating... hey at least you recognize it... put a new spin to the old tired script... might surprise you how it plays out.... hell what do you have to lose?

I am jealous of the motorcycle part... I just bought an extremely nice car that has a lot of giddy-up and go. My fantasy is to just keep driving... but I am off topic this is about you!

From one fellow blacksheep to another - bahhhhh Hang in there everything cycles through... don't be so hard on yourself - you really sound like a fun and intelligent person... give others a chance to see that - leave the past behind you - what the heck are you here for is right around the corner - once you drop all that luggage.
